Of Politics

Today is Polling Day - a sacred watershed 24 hours that could turn the tide and transform the whole political landscape of Singapore in one day; and thats what i honestly believe is the true function of democracy, a system that allows all citizens to have a final say as to who will stand for them in the parliament. The parliament has been disbanded 2 weeks ago, and whats in the ballot box shall decide who will be stepping up to form the new government for the next 5 years. Thats democracy - you never know who will stay and who will go; PAP can just be overwhelmed and become the minority in the span of 2 weeks. Like any war or football match, there is never a guarantee... you can only gain assurance and confidence by building innately strong bonds with your electorates - the judges who will be convinced to make the deciding verdict...
I asked my dad, 'eh pa, who have you voted for?'
I asked my grandmother yesterday, 'eh ah ma, you will vote for who tmr? (in Chinese)'
And guess what,
both declined to answer my question; and thats how sacred every vote is... (and i am honestly surprised that they dint even tell me even though we are connected by blood haha. )
For me, i will tell the whole world that i have voted for PAP (given that i have a chance to cast my holy vote in the first place)... Really relished the chance to serve at the grassroots level again and maybe rub shoulders with my new MP, Miss Sim Ann, who coincidentally is also my alumnus from Hwa Chong. Cheers!
